Shorelines Prizewinners

Posted on Friday, September 15, 2017

The Shorelines Arts Festival is currently running in Portumna this weekend. For the past 10 years there has been a writing competition for 4th and 5th class. Pupils submit a story or a poem on a set theme. This years theme was Ten and we were informed last week that we had two prize winners who needed to attend the prize giving ceremony in Portumna Libary yesterday.
Ethan and Róisín attended with their parents. Róisín received a "Special Commendation" for her story about a car crash. It began with "It took 10 seconds to change my life...."
Ethan was delighted to awarded first place for poetry for his poem about his granny and her ten amazing feats.  As he won first place, Ethan had to read his poem for the audience present.
The final surprise was at the end when the overall student award,  the Barbara Kennedy Memorial trophy was presented to Ethan also!
Well done to both Ethan and Róisín and to all our pupils who took part,
