Back to School 2018

Posted on Sunday, January 07, 2018

We look forward to welcoming back our pupils tomorrow after the Christmas Break.
As there is some cold weather predicted over the next few days, take care on the roads and observe caution entering the school.
We had quite a catastrophe before Christmas with the wall falling down. Thankfully nobody was injured and it doesn't really affect the running of the school. That said, we were advised by the engineer to avoid that side of the school and will continue to assemble on the left side of the school. We had no breaks outside before Christmas but we will put measures in place this week to have the pupils play outside safely.
Parents are asked to follow these guidelines re the seasonal influenza. Many children have coughs and colds at this time of year and this document from the HSE give good advice and information. Send a little packet of tissues in with your child and show them how to blow their nose properly. Pupils end up using the handtowels as tissues in school and they are very harsh on their skin.
We won't have any hurling or rugby this week but training will resume as soon as the pitch and the weather are ready.
I would also like to express the sincere condolances of our school community to our chairperson Fr. McInerney on the death of his brother Gerard. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year.
