Online learning January 2021

Posted on Friday, January 08, 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,
The teaching staff met today (Friday) on Zoom to discuss preparations for online learning next week.
Teachers will spend Monday preparing resources and packaging up books for collection.
On Tuesday 12th January we plan on returning the children's school books. To observe social distancing and guidelines re Covid-19 we will have each child's books bagged and labelled with their name and grouped by class and family.  We have set out a timetable for collection to minimise contact and ask that parents observe all the HSE guidelines regarding social distancing. Parents may collect all their childrens books together.
12:00 6th class
12:20 5th class
12:40 4th class
13:00 3rd class
13:20 2nd class
13:40 1st class
14:00 Senior infants
14:20 Junior infants

4th to 6th class books will be in Ms Treacy's room, their siblings books will also be with them. 2nd/3rd class books will be found in Mr Barrett's room along with their younger siblings books. Infants-1st class who have no older siblings will find their books in Ms McGraths room. Parents may enter using the door their child uses to access their classroom. Facemasks must be worn and only one parent at a time is allowed into the classroom.

Teachers will be using Google classroom again for online teaching. We would be grateful if you could email your child's class teacher to ensure you are set up properly. The pupils in the senior classroom will be interacting themselves and laptops will be available for pupils of that classroom to help them fully engage.
Emails for teachers are as follows: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
Teachers will email parents Tuesday afternoon with an outline of how they plan to teach over the coming weeks.  We will be really focusing on the core subjects and there will be Zooms with individual classes to ensure full engagement. Remember as always, you did not sign up for this and we do not expect you to "teach" your child at home.  Our aim is to continue your child's learning as best as possible with as little stress as possible.
Wednesday morning we should all be ready to get into some book work and learning. For now, everyone should enjoy the last of their Christmas holidays and we look forward to "returning" to school next week.
Kind regards,
Éilis Treacy
Principal
